2012 Run Geelong
Sunday the 18th of November will see over 11,000 participants taking part in one of regional Australia’s largest events, the Cotton On Foundation’s 4th annual Run Geelong.
The fun includes a 6 km and 12 km run /walk where competitors help raise much needed funds for the Geelong Hospital’s Children’s Ward. 100% of their entry fee is donated to the hospital’s appeal. This is the second big event for the hospital this weekend, with Gala Day taking to Geelong’s city streets and waterfront on the Saturday.
The 12 km Bourke Britton Run starts on Western Beach Road overlooking the beautiful Corio Bay at 7:40 AM while the 6 km Telstra Store Geelong CBD run starts at the same location at 8:45.
A huge array of high profile supporters will join the huge turnout including Geelong Cats captain Joel Selwood, Paralympic athlete and gold medalist Richard Coleman, Australian netball player Madison Brown and many more.
Last year the event raised an incredible $448,000 and went a long way to helping the Geelong Hospital in their Children’s ward redevelopments. The current redevelopment is estimated to total $7.8 million dollars, the Cotton On Foundation will be donating over half of this amount in an amazing effort. This new redevelopment will not only help the children of Geelong but people from the Bellarine, Surfcoast, Western District and as far away as the South Australian border.
