What’s Happening in November
November 2012 promises to be a huge month around the Geelong, Bellarine, Surfcoast and Great Ocean Road region.
The fun kicks off in Colac from the 2nd to the 4th of the month with the annual Colac Show. Some of the western districts best stock and produce will be on display as well as a monstrous carnival with rides and plenty of showbags. St Mary’s Parish will be holding a huge Derby Day Fete on Saturday the 4th. You can find St Mary’s at the corner of Yarra and Little Myers Street, just above the city.
For lovers of great wine, the 11th annual Toast to the Coast festival kicks will be held on over the Melbourne Cup weekend of November 3rd and 4th. There are more than 30 wineries around the region participating this year showcasing some of the state’s best wine. …read more
The 96th annual Gala Day will take over the streets of Geelong with another wonderful parade down Malop Street and family celebration on Geelong’s waterfront. The fun starts at 11:00 AM and continues all afternoon, with plenty of special guests, celebrities and exciting activities for all ages. read more
Last year’s Run Geelong was sensational with a great turnout of runners with around 11500 taking part and raising $448,000 for the Geelong Hospital’s Children’s Ward. It is hoped this year the turnout will be even bigger. The event takes place on the 18th of November with a a 12 km run as well as a 6 km race both taking in some of the more scenic roads around our city.
The Queenscliff Music Festival has the reputation of the region’s best music festival and this year will be no exception. Held over weekend of the 23rd through to the 25 of November the festival features some of Australia’s finest acts and several great international names. This year’s highlight is sure to be Missy Higgins, You and I and the Cat Empire. …read more
Winchelsea Festival & Wool Sport Championships take place on the 11th of November at Eastern Reserve and is a great family event. Highlights of the festival include ferret racing, wood chopping, sheep shearing and sheep dog demonstrations just to name a few. …read more
To celebrate the 80 years of the Great Ocean Road, the RACV and the Vintage Sports Car Club of Victoria are holding a five day rally of pre war vehicles between the 24th and 28th of November 2012. This rally will run from the Shrine of Rememberance in Melbourne, taking in Geelong, Barwon Heads, Torquay and the other coastal towns of the Great Ocean Road concluding in Port Fairy on the 28th. The event will feature some beatiful classic automobiles and motorbikes with riders and drivers all dressed in period costume. www.80greatoceanroad.com.au
Fun in St Leonards
The township of St Leonards on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula celebrates their annual community festival on Saturday the 5th of November. There is plenty of fun and even a fishing competition. read more
