What’s Happening in October
The weather is improving and October sees plenty of exciting events happening in and around the Geelong region.
Jamie’s Ministry of Food opens its doors on the 6th of October with cooking demonstrations and other great fun. Find them in Moorabool Street opposite the Market Square enterance
Dont miss the Birregurra Weekend Festival on the 12-14th of October, this is one of the best festivals in the region. There is so much fun to have and Birregurra is only an hour’s drive from central Geelong. There are markets, animals, tractors and plenty of wholesome country fun.
The Geelong Seniors Festival continues all month with lots to do around the Geelong region.
The Royal Geelong Show in its 157th year kicks off on Thursday the 18th and promises to be bigger than ever with so much to see and do; animals, fireworks, showbags, rides, tractors and so much more.
Wednesday the 24th will see the Geelong Cup, one of Geelong’s biggest days on the social calendar. Who will win fashions on the field and who will win the big race.
The 20th of October will see Speed Shear at the Mt Moriac Hotel on the Colac Road that promises to be a fun event.
Pulse FM will be having a great fundraiser at their studios in the city on the 26th. A great line up of bands including the Vasco Era will be performing.
One of the biggest days on Geelong’s social calendar the Geelong Cup kicks off on Wednesday the 24th. Thousands don their best clothes and party at the track in what is a fantastic festive atmosphere.
Get on the lycra and pump those bike tyres for the annual Around the Bay in a day bike ride on the 21st.
The 27th of October will see the Hello Sailor Vintage Fair head to Geelong, this event is a collection of vintage collectors with pop up stalls. They will be in Market Square between 9 and 5. There will be some great clothing and other interesting items to purchase at bargain basement prices. The lovable Humphrey B Bear will also be making a visit to Market Square on Saturday the 27th at 11 AM.
For wine lovers the annual Toast to the Coast festival takes place on the 29th of October at various wineries around our region.
