Floating Christmas Tree returns

Geelong’s ‘world famous’ floating Christmas Tree returns to Steampacket Harbour in a spectacular lighting ceremony on Friday the 9th of November.

Over the past five years the 25 metre floating Christmas Tree has served as a focal point to Geelong’s Christmas celebrations attracting tens of thousands of visitors to the waterfront. At night the tree is best seen in all its glory when its 12,000 metal discs and huge stars are lit up with a incredible show using state of the art led and other lighting technologies.

This year’s lighting will see three new computerised light shows take place on the tree and a spectacular fireworks display. The event is a great way start getting into the mood of the new festive season.

The tree was to say the least, a little controversial when it first arrived on our waterfront but all has been forgotten and the tree fast became a new Christmas tradition in Geelong with thousands gathering around the Steampacket Harbour each year to witness the almost magical moment when the tree first illuminates and many more coming from far and wide to see it during the festive months.

The Floating Christmas Tree will be lit up every night until the 7th of January 2019.
