2014 Christmas in Geelong

This year Geelong has set out to become “Australia’s Christmas Capital” and what a magnificent atmosphere and sight it is, bringing joy to young and old. The highlight of our Christmas decorations is Australia’s largest floating Christmas Tree moored off Steampacket Quay that comes to life with an amazing blaze of colour in the evenings.

The Geelong Town Hall has become a giant screen with spectacular projections themed to the Australian Christmas, while our city streets have new decorations and lighting to help bring some festive cheer to the city area. The Geelong Mall has a stunning collection of Christmas Trees decorated by locals school children and there are festive planter boxes spread throughout the city streets.

The shops and businesses have also got in on the celebrations with many transforming their windows into Christmas scenes including the Myer windows, a first for Geelong. The large shopping centres have magnificent trees and other decoration and good old Santa takes centre stage.

For those out of town, Geelong is truly amazing this Christmas- bring the family down and experience some of our cheer, it will be an experience you will remember for years.
