Thousands of families flocked to the grassy slopes of Rippleside under spectacular sunshine to celebrate Australia Day at one of the many Australia Day events in the Geelong region.

Organised by the Australia Day Committee and the Lions Club of Corio Bay the day saw heaps of great family entertainment including local magician Dazzling Dan and crowd favourite Dame Edna Average.

Firemen treated the crowd to some cool spray from the giant fire hose nozzles while others enjoyed the amusements which included jumping castles, giant slides and a whole array of carnival rides, petting farms and even alpacas. Foodies were out in force with some great treats, including gourmet sausages, chocolate fountains and hot jam donuts, but by far the most popular was the ice cream vendors which were working flat out to keep up with the demand on this wonderful summer’s day.
