The Geelong Show is held over 4 days in the
3rd weekend in October running Thursday through to Sunday. This
year 2005 show will start Thursday teh 13th and finish up on the
Sunday.
The first Geelong Show was in 1855 and it has
been held annually ever since. It brings together the finest
animals and fare from the region and attracts over 100,000
visitors annually.
Along with a full carnival complete with
rides, sideshows and showbags, the show offers a chance for
Geelong to see some of the finest animals from throughout the
region, including Cattle, Sheep, Horses, Dogs and poultry.

Over recent years niche animals are starting
to make an appearance, including alpacas, rats, ferrets and
miniatures horses.
The show also offers a magnificent collection
of steam driven machines from yesterday, which along with many of
the prize winning animals make an appearance in the daily Grand
Parade.

The Showgrounds are in Carr Street, East
Geelong just in front of the Geelong Race Course. During the Show,
buses make regular trips from the city centre, and the Geelong
Railway Station's Bus Port.
