The Lara Heritage Festival

March 14-16th 2008

Story Photos 1

The Lara Heritage Festival is held in March and brings together the vast heritage of the Lara area.

Many community groups and local businesses come together to celebrate what is Lara.

Favorites of the weekend festival include the Ferret Cup, where these wriggly little critters race through plastic tubes to the delight of people young and old.

The Police and SEC run a series of car safety exhibitions including a live demonstration of the jaws of life.

Lara's Avalon Airfield is home to Jetstar's new Sydney and Brisbane service and home of the Australian International Airshow.

The 2006 event saw a Show and Shine day where beautiful polished autos were on display.

The many local groups including rock and roll dancers were on hand to entertain the crowd.

The smell of local community groups sausage sizzles and tasting of some of the regions fine wines were a treat for those with an empty stomach.

The wonderful flying Roulettes and fireworks topped of a great day in the sun.

The Lara Heritage festival received some world wide coverage mid 2004 with news of a mystery 'lost' Beatles case believed to be full of unreleased demo songs being bought at a junk stall for $50. This later turned out to be not the real thing but as time goes by it will become another Urban Myth.

This years festival promises to be a ripper with a scarecrow competition, show and shine, dog competition, Sheaf Tossing Competition and the everyone's favorite the Ferret Cup.
