Queenscliff Seafood Feast

UPDATE 18/4/2011: We have just been informed the 2011 that was due to be held in Geelong at Deakin Uni instead of Queenscliff has also been cancelled. Therefore will be no Seafood Feast in 2011.

The annual Queenscliff Seafood Feast has been one of the regions biggest culinary celebrations and over its years had raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Normally held on Good Friday and was well recognised as one of the largest and best seafood events in Australia attracting thousands to the family friendly day in search for some tasty morsels.

Over the life of the event it had raised in excess of half a million dollars for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

It was not uncommon for Over 12000 people to attend the event and feast on over 6 tons of fresh fish and shellfish, scallops, mussels, calamari, prawns, fresh fish you name it, its amazing and they are all donated by the local fishing industry. Visitors guzzle down some 2500 litres of beverages, including some of the Bellarine Peninsula’s finest wines and celebrate in style. The day was usually catered for by over 400 volunteer staff manning over 30 stalls.

The Seafood Feast was held in beautiful Princess Park on Gellibrand Street Queenscliff, starting at 11am and running into the late afternoon but for 2011 the event has moved into Geelong and will be held at Deakin Uni’s Waterfront Campus.

The Seafood Feast features plenty of fun and entertainment for the whole family including many musical performances and some fun roaming entertainers.

The day concludes with a huge Monster Auction on centre stage. There are always some great items to try your hand bidding on, you will be amazed at the range of items, household goods, electricals, Queenscliff accommodation packages, dining vouchers, hampers and much more, it is a great chance to pick up a real bargain as well as helping the Good Friday Appeal. If you wanted one of the tastiest morsels of the sea on your Easter dinner table ticket in one of the many crayfish raffles was a good bet, they are so delicious.
