The Oceana Marina visits Geelong

Geelong saw the luxurious Oceana Marina cruise liner visit Corio Bay on the 15th of February 2015.

Built in the Fincantieri Sestri Ponete shipyards in Trieste Italy the vessel’s maiden voyage was in January of 2011 At a length of 238.35 metres and beam of 32 metres the ship is powered by 2 controllable pitch propellers and can reach a speed of 20 knots .

The luxurious liner boasts nine dining venues including the spectacular Grand Dining Room, a French bistro, grill and the Pan Asian Red Ginger.

On-board the ship is decked out with luxurious materials; there are rich wood panels, leather, Italian marble. The ship boasts a grand staircase and some beautiful décor. Being smaller than many of the new cruise liners this vessel offers a more intimate and upmarket experience. There are more than 700 staff who cater for 1250 passengers who are housed in the 626 luxurious staterooms with most of them having outside facing balconies.
There are 15 decks on board with the top deck being home to a sports deck, observation lounge and luxury nightclub. Deck 14 houses the spa and fitness centre, the Polo Grill Steakhouse and gourmet Italian restaurant.

The 12 deck is one of the main leisure decks on the Marina, with a huge swimming pool, Jacuzzi and decking. There are dining options and even an enrichment centre and culinary arts centre.
The ship also boasts a huge showroom where music and exotic stage shows are staged.
Deck’s 5 and 6 play host to the casino, grand dining room, reception hall, and many of the special dining experiences.

The vessel is currently sailing Australia before making her way to New Zealand towards the end of February and then onto the South Pacific before heading to South America in April.
February 21st will see another cruise liner visit Geelong, the Seabourn Odyssey will return to our city as part of her Australia and New Zealand tour.
