Suzi Q comes to Geelong

The Arena in North Geelong is going to rock to one of the absolute legends of rock Suzi Quartro on the 14th of September.

Suzi Q has had a career spanning four decades and was the hottest name in Rock in the mid seventies with some of the most memorable rock anthems of the time, she dominated the top of the charts for months with hits like Can the Can, Devil gate Drive, 48 Crash and who can forget the duet she performed with Chris Norman of teen heart-throbs Smokie. It is estimated Suzi Quatro has sold in excess of 45 million records.

Suzi was also a regular on the hit 70’s television show Happy Days with Fonzie she played Leather Tuscadero who was the sister of Leather Tuscadero. Suzi appeared in 13 episodes and boosted the ratings to record numbers. Happy Days wasn’t her only television appearance she also did some time on the smash UK comedy Absolutely Fabulous and even Midsummer Murders. There’s also a radio show, Suzi hosts a show entitled ’Wake Up Little Suzi” which airs on the BBC2 in the UK, it is in its eleventh year and she has just signed a further season.

Suzi has fourteen albums and Back to the Drive which was released in 2006 was her first for about eight years, but fans need not wait another eight years for another album as she is in the process of recording a new album and it is being recorded with Mike Chapman who helped write many of her biggest hits, so it promises to be great. Lets hope she gives us a treat by playing a few of the tracks on her current tour.

Although born in Detroit, USA, Suzi has lived Essex in the UK since the 70’s, she is no stranger to Australia, her 2009 tour will mark the 23rd time she has toured our country, but September 14 will be first time she has performed in Geelong so Geelong fans can expect something amazing from her energetic 90 minute show of pure rock.
