Jirrahlinga Koala & Wildlife Sanctuary
Located in Taits Road Barwon Heads Jirrahlinga is the perfect place to visit if you are wanting to come face to face with some of Australia’s unique wildlife. With a long history of helping animals in need the sanctuary plays an important role in the region looking after hurt or distressed wildlife and has won much acclaim and many awards for its work. As well as koalas the park has dingos, kangaroos, possums, wombats and a range of other magnificent marsupials, reptiles and Australian critters. At the time of writing the park is open 7 days a week between 10:00AM and 5:00 PM.
Barwon Heads Golf Club
The Barwon Heads Golf Club has been ranked one of the finest Golf Clubs in Australia and has a history dating back more than a hundred and ten years to 1907. The current site was developed by Royal Melbourne Golf Club professional golfer Victor East in 1920 when he designed the spectacular course that overlooks the Barwon Heads Bluff and rugged ocean. The course’s clubhouse is just as spectacular as the course opening in 1924 and is now listed with Heritage Victoria and the National Trust. Today the course offers luxury accommodation and there are limited tee times for non-members and to keep with the heritage and quality of the venue a strict dress code applies.
