Wallington – a brief history

Named after Wallington in Hertfordshire, England. Wallington dates back to the 1850s when landholder, Fairfax Fenwick subdivided his property where Wallington now stands. In its heyday it was a popular stopover spot when on the way to Queenscliff or Ocean Grove.

Wallington is part of the Bellairne Peninsula’s food belt growing many of the regions tasty strawberries, apples and pears, which are often sold in small stalls along the roadside. Cattle, some sheep and horses are also raised in the area.
