Today we went to the Shin Yokohama Ramen Museum. Called a food theme park dedicated to instant noodles. The place was set up like a 1950’s Tokyo suburb, more of a food court than a museum but a pretty cool food court anyhow.

There was a bit of rain about today but that didnt stop the fun. We visited Yokahama’s huge china town which was really intersting, with dozens of little lanes and get aways. We had a bit of problem ordering food as the Chinese were not that good with English,, so no problems just take a photo of what you want from the picture out side on the Iphone and show the cook. Easy. Worked a treat and the food was delicious.

Well no trip to Tokyo is complete without visiting the fish market to soak up the smell (which is probably going to linger with me for years) The smell wasnt as bad as i was expecting but it was very fishy. There was all sorts of things from the sea, The Japanese will eat just about anything that lives in water, there are some amazing critters which may or may not be tasty. We headed towards the Tokyo castle later in the day after an extended lunch and came across a huge cultural festival which entertained us for hours. Then down to our favorite laneway for a few yakotori then we went out to the Tokyo dome for a look.

Shinjuku’s impressive business district was the first stop today and straight up the mamoth and evil looking twin tower which is home to Tokyo’s City administratiors. The tower offered a spectacular view of this huge city. Roppongi was the next stop and we also went up the brand new Roppongi hills tower which gave another spectacular vista over the city. the evening saw us hit the lanes for a tasty bite to drink and some ice cold sapporos and ashais.

What better way to get over a big night in Tokyo with a tranquil morning in the magnificent parklands and a visit to Tokyo’s most impressive temples, the Meiji Jingu Shrine. The walk took us past the Tokyo Olympic stadiums followed by a walk down Takeshita Street where all the young girls buy their weird fashion. Plenty of intersting sights to see.

Day one in Tokyo- Strait into Ginza for a look around the luxury shops and find a bite to eat and a few japanese frothys. The afternoon was sent down the electronics town district of Akihabara and we finished back at Shibuia and couldn’t believe the guy wearing the fish head costume selling fish waffles filled with icecream. Not that you ever know in Japan, but the waffles didn’t contain fish.
