Christmas in April why not!

At the base of the sky tower was a very fun attraction. A huge snow park full of fun characters. It was cement snow and we think they were left over from Christmas but too enjoyable to pack away. Anyway we enjoyed them, as did the heaps of families checking out the bears, penguins and snowmen.

Animal park

Entry to the tower also got you a ticket to the small zoo. There were several interesting animals including monkeys, raccoons, some snakes, lizards, a few parrots and a couple of funny looking frogs.

Up the tower

As we couldn’t get up the twin towers we decided to take a look out of the the Kuala Lumpur Tower. It is used for communication purposes and features an antenna that reaches 421 metres and the observation deck is at 276 metres. There a revolving restaurant and a few of the usual small attractions and gift shops up there.

A market then some tasty treats

We found a great market selling a wide range of interesting products then came across a great bar for lunch, delicious satay sticks washed down with a few litres of ice cold beer. A great way to fill in the morning.

Markets, Beers and dinner

We find Chinatown and it is a hive of activity with some great markets and several cool bars. We find the Beatles Bar. St Pepper is playing and there’s a few Beatles albums on the wall, very corny but enjoyable, and the beer was certainly refreshing. As the night draws the street food comes to life and we enjoy some delicious treats. There are some buskers roaming the area, or favorite was the guys with the guitar and his young kid, they were so dreadful but in a strange way so good. They were singing awful broken English country songs- and they were making a few bucks in the process.

Times Square KL

This place is massive, its a 48 storey high hotel and office block and one of the worlds biggest shopping centres. There are over 1000 shops and 65 food outlets. There is an indoor theme park, bowling alleys, IMAX and even a Kenny Rogers Roast Chicken Shop serving home made muffins- delicious.

Seeing a bit more of KL

We head down to the twin towers, they are amazing, and were the tallest buildings in the world when built (depending what tape measure you used and from what point) anyway they are huge and very impressive. This precinct is home to a huge exhibition centre where there is a computer show we stuck our heads into for a few mins and some beautiful lush parklands.

Dinner Time

We find the markets and the food districts. There’s plenty of great street food around, its just hard to decide on which one to try. The food smells amazing and some of it looks pretty good too. We end up finding a place on the corner that appears to be Chinese, there’s plenty of action in the streets so we have something to watch while kicking back with a meal and a few beers.

A melting pot

On first impressions KL is a melting pot of cultures and just about everything else. The city area is full of some of the biggest and flashest boutiques and shopping malls and some buildings that are nothing more than a shanty town. There is everything in between is incredible. The majority of the people are Muslim but there are Indians, Chinese and a huge array of multiculturalism. Some of the shopping centres are monstrous with so many luxury brand stores, huge food courts and hundreds of shops.
