Squirreling around

These cute little guys are everywhere and so friendly… they are so twitchy and quick they are pretty hard to photograph.. but this is a good one. Got some great video of them playing with their nuts.

The Intrepid

the Intrepid is a huge aircraft carrier turned into a museum on the Hudson River, it featured some great aircraft and has just won a space shuttle which it plans to have on display in a year or so.
The Ntrepid wa retired in the mid 70’s but “returned to serve the united states once again protecting the country’s freedom and liberty” during 9/11 as a office space for one of the strategic operations. Gift shop was full of cheezy or should I say dignified 9/11 souvineers.

A few quiet ales

After a huge day walking around no better place for a beer than a pub with a pig out the front…Baron Von Swine to be exact. He is the mascot for Rudys. Where they have $2 pints and free hotdogs- what a deal.

The next venue the Pony….no horse mascot here bad luck but some amazing craft beers including a very tasty peach flavored ipa bee…it was yummy although sounded rancid.

Monday Coney Island

Think something that’s really crap crossed between something that’s really crap…then make it crapper. when we read about this place it was a no brained to take a look….we were not disappointed ..sadly the photos don’t show it as crap as it really is….want to move here!

The place consisted of a nice wide sandy beach. Which looked pretty good although closed due to tidal issues. there was a wide wooden boardwalk probably 40 meters wide and it went for as long as the eye could see..so far pretty impressive. bur along the whole length of the boardwalk were dodgy diners with every imaginable typ of fried food basting in the sun behind greasy windows. There were the usual tshirt and crap novelties then huge carnival parks with some good and some downright dangerous looking rides and attractions, with some pretty average (crack taking) and religious sparkers to offer entertainment.. “repent your sins to God our savior!”

Monday Nathan’s @ Coney Island

From some research we learnt Coney Island was one of New York’s crappest attractions so no better place for a bit of a subway trip..and give the famous Nathan’s (home of the word famous hot dog competition a go…winner ate 58 3/4 ). Food tasted as good as it looked fortunatley the large $4.23 beer in a paper cup was 30 ounces what ever that was …bigger than a bucket.
