We made it

Long long day…V Australia flight pleasant, and got into LAX about 8 am. Had a wait for next plane at 12.. This got to Chicago about 6 then coped a 2 hour delay for bad weather… so to the bar buy beer and burritos. Finally left 9:40 but got 20 mins out of New York then a holding pattern for an hour before diverting to Batamore. We spent about an hour there waiting for weather to clear then finally got to Newmark (ny) airport about 3:30am then a cab into city and got to bed bit after 4am. An angry mob woke us up about 8 banging drums and protesting about wall street bailouts.. we staying in financial district hotel pretty good, ok size and newly refurbished.. only one prob..bloody American toilets… not made for burritos… not sure how the average American goes.

..Guess what – no beer! arrrr!

We cant believe it- Well the folk over here not only speak a bit funny they also have some pretty old fashioned liquor rules. Good Friday was bad enough but its happening again- Easter Sunday is also a no no for liquor.

Today we take a ferry ride on the beautiful harbor and head to Waiheke Island. The trip took about an hour. We jumped on the bus to explore what the island had to offer. The bus took us for a lap around the island and we came across Wild on Waiheke Vinyard and Winery it also had a small microbrewery- so we jumped off the bus to explore.  Only to find they were not allowed to serve beer without food, well that was not  a problem, we ordered a garlic bread and got stuck into the delicious golden brew.    Their beer was great and they sold their takeaway in plastic bottles just like you would buy coke. They produced a lovely wheat beer and their pale ale was amazing. The grounds were beautiful with plenty of lush lawns  a great vineyard.

After a great day exploring the island we took the ferry back to Auckland and thought lets explore the hotel, and to our surprise the hotel bar was open, they serve liquor to guests,  There really is a God.  We make the most of their hospitality.
