This place is stunning, a huge modern concrete and glass building stuck in the Olympic Parkland. One side houses the new models, BMW, Mini and Rolls and its used as a test drive or pickup place, like a dealership cross with a theme park, while the other is a BMW museum which is stunning.
Ingolstadt
Today we visit Ingolstadt, a smallish town that is home to Audi. The city centre is pretty cruisy with some nice old buildings and on the way home we stumble across a huge festival with classical music and beer- so being as cultured as we are, we find a spot on the grass and enjoy a few more of the local brews.
Audi
We visit Audi in Ingolstadt, located about half way between Nuremburg and Munich. The museum was a bit of let down after the spectacular Mercedes and Porche complexes a few days back but they had some nice cars Most were last century one floor and im guessing the 2000+ floor was closed for reno or a function. The factory tour was well worth the visit we visit the body build to see their amazing robots and some of the final assembly line watching dash, windows, wiring and roof trim being installed. We had a peek in the worker’s canteen and yep Sausages and Beer were served… I know another car company that could learn from that!
The foods pretty good
Underground Beer Tunnels
Hitler’s congress hall
This is another incredible structure. It is based off the coloseum but MGG sized. It was to have a roof and hold 50,000 people with lavish marble features. They spent about 6 years building it and stopped in 1939. It is now a pretty interesting museum focusing on some of the grand plans of the Nazis and plenty of history on how the city was transformed before, after and during the war.

Off to Nuremburg
We picked up our new Ford Fiesta and headed off east to Nuremberg in a journey that took about 2 1/2 hours. The roads were a bit slow, most of the highways were 120 and 130 kms, plenty of road works and the trucks which are speed limited to 80 and there are just so many of them, although they stick to the right lane. In some places they were like a train, 100’s of trucks one after another.
Things are a bit damp today so we settle into the hotel then go check out the city.
Porsche
Our last day in Stuttgart and today we head to the Porsche Museum another multi million dollar piece of architecture with an incredible collection. The place is not as big as Mercedes but is is equally as stunning and set out with its own theme and style not to look as if it had copied anything the others had done. The cars were strangely all accessible no barriers ropes or plinths keeping the people away from what in many cases would be pretty much priceless cars.
Bad Cannstatt
After a beer and sausage in the beer garden at Mercedes we head down to Bad Cannstatt, a close by suburb for a look around and and evening feed. There were plenty of old buildings to enjoy and some very tasty sausages and beer. We found what could only be described as a dive bat and had a few beers while ducking next door for some sausage and a burger.
Mercedes Museum
We visited this place when we visited Stuttgart years back but it still blows you away in how amazing it is. Not only is the collection incredible, the building and the layout of the exhibitions is like no other. You could have no interest in cars and really enjoy this place, there is something for everyone (except someone who wanted a bear to match his car- out of stock… waaahhh!!)
