Disney sure know how to put on a great show, we caught two of them their fun parade that was set on the large lake and their spectacular closing show where robotic fire breathing dragons came out of the water with smoke, fireworks, lasers and other stunning visual effects. A Spectacular end to a fantastic day in Mickey land, we feel like we are about 8 years old and are loving it.

The happiest place on sea, that’s DisneySea the flash second Disney theme park in Tokyo. This one of a kind park has some of Disney’s favorite rides like Indiana Jones, Tower of Terror, 2000 Leagues under the Sea and plenty of new ones. It is split into lands like Disneyland next door but they are all nautical themed. Its a fantastic park and has lots of fantastic rides and attractions.

This joint is massive not only is it a Toyota Showroom its a giant theme park. There’s a car museum, all their latest models, a virtual reality and 3D ride, plenty of things for the kids to play on and a track snaking through the complex where you can take a ride in their Crayon electric automated car. Outside there is a test track for potential buyers and there’s robots and plenty of other free fun.

There are some pretty impressive pieces of architecture on Odaiba. Some you just wonder what were they thinking.

|
Odaiba is a futurist city just over the Rainbow Bridge from Tokyo and is home to Fuji TV. We did a tour of the studios and saw a few of their characters, sadly no Iron Chefs but we did see Blue the Dog. We also found a dog cafe and dog grooming boutique.

Today we visit Ameyoko Market that runs along the side of the railway lines in Ueno a few stations from Tokyo. This was once a black market market set up during the war, and today is a really vibrant place selling a wide range of products. At one end is food and especially seafood, there are some very confronting sights, ugly fish guts, slimy eels, huge octopus and plenty of other weird creatures from the sea, I’m sure they are all very tasty. Further down there is a huge clothing area that leads to a sports gear market where you can buy just about any sports related clothing or equipment. Right at the end there are a heap of toys and a few wonderful toy shops selling a heap of great things.

The Akihabara Electronics town is enormous and an absolute overload in everything for the geek whether the are into phones, computers, electronics or even magna cartoons. There are blocks and blocks of electrical stores selling everything and the choice is ridiculous. Phone shops have hundreds of models, there are software game shops with thousands of titles and even shops selling household appliances by the truck load. Being a weekend the place is crazy full of mainly teenage and young twenties people. There is J-Pop blaring from every angle and earlier there was even a J-Pop band performing to screaming fans. There are lots of comic book stalls and places to buy magna character models, there are even maid cafes where girls in frilly French maid costumes serve you small meals, softdrink and other refreshments. A crazy place check out the sushi, they are actually USB devices.

We stumbled across a pretty cool train museum a short walk from the Electronics town. It was a little dated but had some pretty interesting stuff including one of the first model bullet trains coming out the front of the building.
