2014 Lara Food & Wine Festival

It will be a gastronomic’s delight at the Pirra Homestead in Lara on the 23rd of March when the Lara Food and Wine Festival returns to its magnificent lawns.

The event has become one of the Geelong region’s biggest food festivals attracting thousands of people to a wonderful day of food, drink, entertainment and fun for the whole family.

Returning to the festival this year will be crowd favourite and Mr Masterchef Matt Preston, he as appeared at the festival before and his charm, humour and interactivity with the audience is always a highlight. Other celebrities appearing at the event will be local and TV’s Getaway host Catriona Rowntree and the lovely Imogen Brough who was amazing on TV’s “The Voice”.

Some of the Geelong region’s finest chefs will battle it out in the Ultimate Chef Challenge, in what is usually a fun, informative and interesting cook off. Here each chef needs to prepare a stunning dish in only 15 minutes in an effort to beat their opponent.

For the first time this year the Lara Food and Wine Festival will feature an Artisan Smallgoods Award. This award will be presented in the honour of the late Angel Cardoso who was a well-known smallgoods maker in the region. The award will be judged by Matt Preston and other amazing chefs, George Biron formerly of Sunny Brae Restaurant in Birregurra and from Melbourne’s famous MoVida, Frank Camorra.

Also on the main stage will be Rosa Mitchell, a diminutive restaurateur and author who will be cooking up a storm with some incredible Italian inspired dishes.

The kids will have a great day while you enjoy yourself on the lawns. There will be a huge kids zone with plenty of fun to keep then amused for hours, with activities, entertainment and lots of fun.

With the day all about food and wine, visitors will not be disappointed by the choice. Over 80 stalls will sell everything from the simple BBQ to the gourmet. There will be a wide array of exhibitors and vendors including many of the region’s best. Expect to see artisan bakers, award winning cheeses, multicultural treats from the four corners of the world and our great beers and wines.
