This event always attracts a huge influx of surfing fans who watch the action from the beach’s high red cliffs usually braving strong cool Autumn winds and often some pretty ordinary conditions.

Our region is known for its world class surf beaches and none are more renowned than Bells Beach. The beach that forms part of the Point Addis Marine National Park has booming swells and incredible waves, plus the cliffs form a natural amphitheatre giving the beach a perfect location for spectators.

Interestingly this event is the only sporting event that has permission to operate on Easter Friday in Australia.

Last year Brazilian Adriano de Souza took out the trophy and Carissa Moore from Hawaii USA took out the women’s competition in what were spectacular and exciting events.

This year’s event kicks off on the 16th of April and runs through until the 27th of April.
