2015 Lara Food & Wine Festival

Sunday March 22nd will see the Lara Food and Wine festival return to the magnificent grounds of Pirra Homestead in Lara for what will be an incredible day of food, wine, entertainment and fun.

The festival celebrates the best of the region and will feature some of our finest gourmet food growers and producers, brewers and wine makers come together in one huge event that is expected to attract thousands of visitors making it the biggest food event on the Geelong calendar.

The day will see many of the Geelong region’s best chefs offering advice and showing some of their secrets from the cooking stage, there will be master classes, competitions and lots of fun.

The Ultimate Chef Challenge returns to the festival this year and will once again see Geelong region’s finest chefs will battle it out in what is usually a fun, informative and interesting cook off. Here each chef needs to prepare a stunning dish in only 15 minutes in an effort to beat their opponent. Past efforts have been incredible and we are expecting something exceptional from the great selection of Chefs in this year’s competition. Restaurants represented in the Ultimate Chef Challenge include Jack & Jill Restaurant, Gladioli, Tulip, Black Bull Tapas Bar & Restaurant and Empire Grill.

This year’s event will see the return of Network 10’s Masterchef judge Matt Preston. Matt is a huge fan of the event and has referred to it as one of the best festivals in the country. Matt will open the festival with Geelong Mayor Darryn Lyons and other special guests.

Another welcome return to the 2015 Lara Food and Wine festival will be Rosa Mitchell. Rosa has been hugely popular at earlier festivals with her cooking demonstrations that include some delicious Italian themed dishes.
Make sure you come hungry as there will be in the vicinity of 80 stalls selling everything from the simple BBQ right up to exotic gourmet offerings.

Entertainment will include the sensational Imogen Brough, Reed Street and Lara’s Rob, Cody Levi & Kay, who will out some great tunes throughout the day. The popular kids zone also returns with face painting and lots of fun including the Party Girl.

The beautiful homestead will also be open during the day and will feature several exhibitions including photography and other forms of artwork.

Entry is only $5 with plenty of free parking. The gates open at 10:00 AM and the festival runs through until 4:00 PM. Be sure to put your name in for the great gate prizes as you enter, prizes include a European Oven and Holiday.
