Portarlington’s Recreation Reserve will once again host the Bellarine Agricultural Show during the Labour Day weekend on Sunday the 13th of March.

This year the show, the 26th annual promises to be bigger than ever with a full program of rural family fun and so much to see and do.

Many of the show’s favorite events are back including the popular Gumboot Toss, the Dog Jump, Shearing demonstrations and the amazing vintage chaff cutting.

This year there are plenty of family based activities to enjoy including the Nail Drive, Hay Rolling, pony rides and the exhilarating rock wall. For lovers of animals the Bellarine Show has it all, there will be cattle, horses, alpacas, poultry, sheep, dogs and many other interesting creatures, many competing in competition for the best of the Bellarine.

Another highlight returning to the show this year will the vintage vehicle displays, there will be classic cars, trucks and some wonderful old machinery including several steam driven contraptions chugging away. The show will also feature a great tractor competition where you can see the versatility and strength of these important pieces of rural equipment.

Cooking, produce and gardening will once again be highlights of this year’s Bellarine Agricultural Show. Expect to see some fantastic displays and completions including the ever popular flower and plant show, cooking show with some of the most delicious cakes, scones, shortbreads and biscuits.  Beautiful home grown produce will include competitions for the best onions, beetroot, carrots, zucchinis and beans to name a few.

The show will also feature some amazing handcrafts including incredible works of sewing, patchwork, crochet, embroidery and knitting. Other craft competitions will include beads, dolls, over locking paper craft. With people of all ages and abilities taking part in the competition.

Many of the local schools around our region have also submitted their best craft and works of art, a display that is always popular at the show.
