The expansive lawns of the homestead make for a magnificent picnic like setting where people kick back and enjoy the great entertainment while enjoying the delicious offerings. This year Reed Street, Rob Anderson and The Run will make up much of the day’s music.

Over on the main stage some of the region’s best chefs and cooks will battle it out in a range of cook offs and give a wide array of great cooking classes for the audience to learn and try at home.

As a new event for 2016 the festival will feature a Master and Apprentice Cooking Competition, here some of our best chefs will team up with cooking students.

Back for 2016 will be the Hamster of Lara competition where homemade small goods including sausages, cured meats and other tasty meats will be judged for the perpetual Angel Cardoso Memorial Trophy. Competition has been fierce in recent years and this year there promises to be some amazing small goods entered. The ever popular fruit and vegetable competition will also return this year with the preserves being judged by celebrity TV chef Gabriel Gate.

This year’s photography competition expands to digital with Instagram and entries will feature food and beverage photos from around the Geelong and Surfcoast region. This year award winning photographer Ricardo Da Cunha will exhibit some of his amazing work and be the judge for this yea’rs photographic competition at the festival. The display will be a must see and can be viewed in the Pirra Homestead.
