Kris Kristofferson
Saturday 5th of April
On of country musics true legends, Kris Kristofferson is coming to Geelong on the 5th of April appearing at the Arena in North Geelong. Kristofferson is touring Australia on the back of his new album Feeling Mortal and will be playing tracks from it plus some of the classic tracks he is so well know for including Me and Bobby McGee, For the Good times and Help me make it through the night. Kris has been recording and performing for around fifty years and in that time he was a member of the Highwaymen a collaboration with Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings to make a supergroup of country music like no other. He has won a Golden Globe award for best actor in a Star is Born, nominated for an Academy Award and has been inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. The Enterprize Pirate Weekend
Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th April 2014
The magnificent tall ship The Enterprize returns to Geelong on the weekend for a special visit with a few colourful friends. Berthing at Stony Pier near the RGYC on Geelong’s waterfront and offering our long cruises on the vessel around Corio Bay with a pack of pirates and other scoundrels. The Enterprize will be celebrating a Geelong Pirate Family Weekend. Captain Jack Sparrow and a crew of skulduggery and dastardly characters. CFA Rural State Championships
Saturday 5th April – Sunday 6th April 2014
The Geelong Showgrounds will host the best of the CFA in a weekend of sport and fun. This event will bring together over 100 teams from 42 brigades around Victoria in some tough competition including firefighting skills like shooting water onto targets, ladder climbs and pump and hose work.
Everyone’s favourite furry fireman Captain Koala will be visiting and there will be plenty of great activities including fire safety lessons, recruitment information and even a range of fire trucks. Mill Market Pink Charity Day
Sunday April 6th 2014
The amazing Mill Markets in Newcomb are holding a Pink Charity Day to help raise awareness and funds for the Andrew Love Cancer Centre. The day kicks off at 10:00 AM and the colour of the day is…..well you guessed it pink. There will be a sausage sizzle, face painting, dress up competitions and even a hair spray booth where you can pink your hair. There are great prizes and there are sure to be some incredible items on display at the market stalls, one of the Australia’s best vintage markets.

 

Autism Walk Geelong
Saturday 6th of April 2014
Autism is a condition that is affecting and changing the lives of many of our families. To raise awareness and support the people who are so affected by autism there is a special walk taking place from Steampacket Gardens on Geelong’s waterfront at 1:30PM. This is the third event of its kind and is an event in support of World Autism Awareness Month.

 

Trailblazer Run
Sunday 6th April, 2014
How does a 10 KM trial run through the beautiful You Yang’s Regional Park sound, well this event might be for you. Trailbrazer is a pretty exciting bush course run using the many trails and emergency tracks throughout the park. There also a 7 KM course where walkers are also welcome. Old Man Nanook
5-9th April 2014
The Courthouse Arts in Gheringhap Street hosts a fun show of music and shadow puppetry for the kids based on a story of a polar bear who is the last of his kind. The story traces his journey to the end of the ice where he discovers why the ice is melting. The show is aimed towards a 9-15 year old audience and shows are at 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM. Entry is a gold coin with proceeds going to the Good Friday Appeal.
