Totes Ma Goats
Tuesday 8th – Friday 11th of April 2014
The Potato Shed in Drysdale is hosting Totes Ma Goats a sing and dance along celebration for the school holidays. The show will include some pretty cute characters, thee is the goats, and Horse Ma Gorse, Wiggle Piggy Wig and Mrs Quack. The story is inspiring and fun and traces their dreams and the unexpected obstacles they have along the way. Wizard of Oz Show
Tuesday 8th April 2014
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of one of the greatest and most loved films of all time, The Wizard of Oz, GPAC is celebrating with two special performances based on MGM’s classic movie. The Yellow Brick Road tour is travelling throughout Victoria this school holiday’s and now its Geelong’s turn to experience this fun and interactive adventure. Kids will love this show especially the ones aged between 2 and 8 years old, bring them dressed up and ready for some hilarious fun. Shows are at 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM. Old Man Nanook
5-9th April 2014
The Courthouse Arts in Gheringhap Street hosts a fun show of music and shadow puppetry for the kids based on a story of a polar bear who is the last of his kind. The story traces his journey to the end of the ice where he discovers why the ice is melting. The show is aimed towards a 9-15 year old audience and shows are at 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM. Entry is a gold coin with proceeds going to the Good Friday Appeal.

 

The Ginsberg Market

The Ginsberg Market is a creative collective pioneering a creative movement. They are holding an exciting pop up market at the Cottage located at 359 Pakington Street, West Geelong between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM. The Ginsberg Market is a fashion forward, on trend pop up market for Independent Artists and Designers from the region. But hang on, this ain’t your average market. A highly polished, artistically focused event that showcases the phenomenal talent in Geelong. It is for the radicals, the hipsters, the creatives, the free-thinkers, the un-censored encouraging creative growth and innovative ideas.

Saturday 12th April 2014
Popular blues singer Dan Sultan, and Geelong AFL legend Billy Brownless will be part of a great family event on Steampacket Gardens before the big game at Simonds Stadium against Geelong and the West Coast Eagles. The free community event kicks off at 4:30 PM and will also include a sausage sizzle, face painting a jumping castle and lots of fun. AFL Football – Geelong Cats vs Westcoast Eagles
Saturday 12th April 2014
The Cats are back for round four and their second game at Geelong’s Simonds Stadium against the West Coast Eagles. The Cats have had a great run so far in 2014 with three wins against Adelaide Crows, Brisbane Lines and last week against their arch enemy Collingwood.  Can they do 4 out of 4, the betting agencies are saying yes, with great odds on the Cats to win.  Expect a cool evening and maybe a few showers during the evening.  The game starts at 7:40 PM under the lights at Kardinia Park.  This game will only be televised on Foxtel.

 

Festivus Ocean Grove

Festivus is a new music festival coming to the Ocean Grove Park in Ocean Grove and is tailored to lovers of music, art and food. The acts include David Bridie who you might remember from Not Drowning Waving or My Friend the Chocolate Cake, Julien Willson, Strange Tenants, who we haven’t heard from for a while and a host of other fantastic acts. Tickets are available from GPAC or the Piping Hot Chicken Shop on the main strip at the Grove.

 

Calling All Cars – Live
Saturday 12th of April 2014
The Youth Activities Area is going to be the place to be Saturday afternoon when one of the hottest new bands in the nation Calling All Cars will perform a free show from 2:00 PM. They will be playing tracks from their brand new album Raise the People and are sure to play a couple of Triple J favourites like Werewolves and Standing in the Ocean. Also on the bill with be the Sinking Teeth and Genghis Can’t Swim. The event is free and part of their 22 date seven state national tour.

 

Lorne Swing Bridge Model Boat Regatta

The lovely seaside resort town of Lorne of the Great Ocean Road is holding the Swing Bridge Model Boat Regatta between 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM. This event is the third annual and is a wonderful school holiday activity. The Deep

The Deep a wonderful puppet experience presented by the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre is coming to GPAC to thrill the young. This performance is based on the Tim Winton book, The Deep, a story about a little girl who has a big fear- the deep of the sea. The show is a message on how to forget fear and enjoy life. There are some wonderful puppets and the performance has been written for kids of all ages but those especially between 4 – 12 years old. Day out with Thomas
Saturday 12th April & Sunday 13th April 2015
Thomas, Sir Topham Hat and all of Thomas’s friends are coming to the Queenscliff station for a weekend of fun and they are even bringing their friends the Troublesome Trucks. This special family event features a 40 minute train ride on the historic Bellarine Railway line being towed behind one of Thomas’ friends. There will be some live re-enactments with the characters, show bags, photo opportunities and plenty of fun for young and old. There are four train departures during and it is important you book beforehand to avoid disappointment, this event has been very popular in the past. Australian Doctors Orchestra with Lee Abrahmsen

he renowned Australian Doctors Orchestra is coming to Geelong for the first time, performing at the Keith Humble Centre at Geelong College in Aphrasia Street, Newtown from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Enjoy an afternoon of classical music featuring celebrated Geelong Soprano Lee Abrahmsen. Anam Cara House is the charity partner for the performance with all proceeds being donated to its community-funded hospice and respite service.Tickets are $55 full or $35 concession and available via the Eventbrite website www.eventbrite.com.au.
