Friday 25th July
Food Trucks in the Mall
The Geelong Mall will host the last of three Food Truck days where 10 food trucks will be offering an amazing array of international and fusion street food. Ten food trucks are expected for the event that spans the next two Friday lunch times. There will be entertainment, fun and games for the kids and plenty of places to sit down and enjoy the atmosphere and food on offer. Last week saw an estimated 2000 people enjoy the lunchtime event, this week might even be bigger.

Jimeoin – Yes Yes Whatever
Everyone’s favourite English born Irish comedian Jimeon will be performing at the Playhouse at GPAC on Friday night in his latest show title Yes, Yes, Whatever. Reviews have been fantastic with many saying it is his best work. By all reports the show will be hilarious with plenty of nonsense and great stand-up. This is Jimeoin’s last show before he heads to Scotland for a huge run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival followed by an extensive stand up tour of the UK.

Peppa Pig Live
Everyone’s favourite Pig, Peppa pig and all her friends are coming to Geelong for three huge shows. Peppa Pig Live – Treasure Hunt had an amazing season on London’s West End and now it’s our turn.  The GPAC Playhouse Theatre will host this fantastic show that kids will just love. Danny Dog, Pedro Pony, Zoe Zebra and Polly Parrot will all joining Peppa and her brother George on stage in a wonderful sing along adventure.

Artefact Pop Up Market
The Boom Gallery in Rutland Street Newtown are holding a Xmas in July Artisan Market. The market runs Friday from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM and Saturday From 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The market will feature an amazing array of incredible hand crafts, clothing, jewelry and other artwork.

Prayer and Vigil for MH17
The world has been in shock this week coming to terms with the horrific news of Malaysian Airlines flight MH17. The Geelong community is praying and remembering the victims in a prayer and vigil at a special service be held at the Ukrainian Hall at 57 Pakington Street, West Geelong from 6:00 PM.

Friends of Botanical Gardens – Plant Sale

The Friends of the Geelong Botanical Gardens are holding another of their fabulous plant sales. This not only helps raise funds for our beautiful gardens it also gives people the opportunity to purchase some interesting and rare plants that are not often found in our nurseries. All plants are colour coded and sold at a reasonable price. The sale takes place at the rear of the gardens in Eastern Park.

Meet the Minions
The Minions from the hit animated comedy ‘Despicable Me’ will be in Target Geelong ready to meet and greet the kids of Geelong. They will be in the store between 12:00 PM and 12:30 PM then return after doing a few deeds around 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM. It should be a whole lot of fun.

The Otway Fly celebrates Otway Tree Week
Pack your explorer boots and gloves and head to the amazing Otway Fly Adventure deep in our magnificent Otways for the Otway Fly Tree Week. Visit and plant one of a variety of local tree species including Mountain Ash and Myrtle Beech. All participants have the opportunity to pledge a conservation promise to their tree, and receive a complimentary general admission ticket to Otway Fly Treetop Adventures, allowing them to revisit their tree and observe its progress. The Beatles – Photography exhibition
Its 50 years since the Beatles visited Australia and to celebrate the Elephant and Castle Hotel in East Geelong is holding a special photographic exhibition featuring many rare images of the band that changed the world. The exhibition runs until the end of October and many artworks are for sale with proceeds being donated to Barwon Health’s special care nursery.

Teesdale Christmas in July Festival
The rural township of Teesdale to the west of the city is holding a Christmas in July celebration. This fun free community event will take place at Teesdale’s Turtle Bend between 1-:00 AM and 2:00 PM. There will be market stalls, a car boot sale, food vendors and even a sleigh race. This should be a fantastic family day and who knows the way our weather is going there might even be snow.
