An Evening with Margaret Drabble
Tuesday 25th February 2014
Presented by the Geelong Regional Library, GPAC and the Wheeler Centre Margaret Drabber appears at the Drama Theatre at GPAC.
Margaret is a much loved English novelist, biographer and critic and consummate chronicler of London. Born in Sheffield she has published 17 novels since her first A Summer Bird Cage in 1963. This time she visits Australia on the back of her 18th Novel published in 2013, The Pure Gold Baby, this book tackles the story of single motherhood and disability, tracing the life of caring for Anna a special needs child, a often confronting but moving story. Nightjar
Friday 28th February 2014
The fourth of four Nightjars take place in Johnstone Park on Friday Night. Night Jar is part festival and part market and has been hugely successful in its first two weeks. Located under among the lush grass and shady palm trees the Nightjar has been the place to be on Friday nights, with some interesting craft inspired stores, incredible entertainment and some of the tastiest food going around, get down there this Friday and enjoy. Apollo Bay Music Festival 
February 28th – March 2nd 2014
The Apollo Bay Music Festival has long been regarded as one of the best music festivals in the state attracting huge crowds and some quality acts. This year the line up is very impressive with USA act Everlast headlining the show. Kate Miller-Heidke, Shane Nicholson, Dallas Crane, Nick Barker and New Zealand’s Holly Smith are only a few of the many acts performing. Hair – Summer of Love Victorian Tour
Thursday 27th February – Saturday 1st March 2014
There is no more iconic sixties musical than Hair, the musical that not only rocked and shocked an audience it defined the generation. Who can forget the huge songs, Aquarius, Let the Sun Shine In and Good morning Starshine. The show originally opened off Broadway in 1967 and has several makeovers in its 45 plus year span. This production is based on the Tony Award Winning Broadway Revival production and is raw and stripped down, funny and inspiring and has just completed a massive sell out season in Melbourne. 2014 All Holden Day
Saturday 1st March 2014
Its been a pretty rough year for the Australian auto industry but all that will be put aside on the 1st of March when Holden fans descend on the Geelong Showgrownds to enjoy the 2014 All Holden Day. Expect to see cars from all eras of the company from the early 48’s right up to the latest HSV Commodores. There are sure to be plenty of US muscle cars too like Ponticas, Camaros and several Chevys. Teddy Bears Picnic
Saturday 1st March 2014
The kids will love the Teddy Bears Picnic and Pantomime at Warralily Estate at Armstrong Creek. All the entertainment is free and everyone is invited including teddy bears at this wonderful day out for the whole family. Goldilocks and the Three Bears is going to be performed by Theatre 3222, plus Geelong’s favoirte magician Dan the Magic Man will be doing some great tricks. There will be jumping castles, a photo booth, live music from the Funky Mummies and plenty of food, drink. Find the picnic opposite the Warralily sales office on Barwon Heads Road in Amstrong’s Creek between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

 

Blues & Blueberry Festival
Saturday 1st March 2014
The Gellibrand River Bules and Blueberry festival will feature some amazing music including Collard Greens and Gravy, Dream Boogie, One Black Rat and Blues with That. The day will include some of the Otway’s finest produce, art and craft in a huge market. The day kicks off at 9:00 AM and goes through until 6:00 PM at the Otways Tourist Park on the beautiful Gellibrand River only an hour and twenty from the centre of Geelong, through Colac.
Dachshund Derby Day
Sunday 2nd March 2014
This has got to be one of the more unique events around the Geelong region. The 2014 Dachshund Derby is held on Victoria Park at Inverleigh to the west of our city and will feature you guessed it a sausage dog race. The event is open to all types of dogs, not just the cute sausage dog, as long as they are no larger than 300mm at the shoulder. The day kicks off at 9:00 AM and goes through until 2:00 PM and as well as some four legged friend fun, there will be plenty of family fun including fancy dress competitions, sack races, musical chairs, plus some great food. This is one fun event not to miss.

 

Geelong Bridal Expo
