The Wiggles
Tuesday 15th of April 2014
Everone’s favoirte kids entertainers the Wiggles are coming to Geelong with their new show the Apples and Bananas Tour. Anthony, Emma, Lachy and Simon will be playing Geelong’s Playhouse Theatre in two shows at GPAC. Also joining the skivvy wearing foursome will be Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wags the Dog, Henry the Octopus and everyone’s favorite pirate, Captain Feathersword. As well as playing some tracks from their brand new album Apples and Bananas they will be doing all their classics, expect to hear great songs like Hot Potato and Rock a Bye your Bear. If any of the Wiggles last shows to Geelong are any indication these shows will be massive and sell fast so get in fast to avoid disappointment. For more information: www.gpac.org.au

 

Seven Last Voices
Wednesday 16th of April 2014
Geelong’s magnificent Basilica of St Mary of the Angles is the venue for Seven Last Voices a presentation of music poetry and images. This event will see the Seven Last Words of Christ by Franz Joseph Hayden be performed by the Richmond Quartet. Wendy Grose will read Michael Dennis Browne’s Seven Last voices and there will be organ by Fran De Rosso and some amazing photography by Helen Lyth. 2014 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach

The world’s oldest and most prestigious surfing event returns to the Geelong Region’s premier surf beach Bells for the 53rd time for the 2014 Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach. This event will bring the cream of world surfing to our region including the 35 top men, the top women and 16 best juniors of the ASP world tour. Read More

 

The Ginsberg Market
Thursday 17th April 2014
Bad weather last Thursday has caused a reschedule to this Thursday. The Ginsberg Market is a creative collective pioneering a creative movement. They are holding an exciting pop up market at the Cottage located at 359 Pakington Street, West Geelong between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM. The Ginsberg Market is a fashion forward, on trend pop up market for Independent Artists and Designers from the region. But hang on, this ain’t your average market. A highly polished, artistically focused event that showcases the phenomenal talent in Geelong. It is for the radicals, the hipsters, the creatives, the free-thinkers, the un-censored encouraging creative growth and innovative ideas.
Torquay College Fair
Saturday 19th April 2014
This Easter Saturday event is held at the Torquay College in Grossmans Road Torquay and is a major fundraiser for the school. Running from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM the fair is a huge fate with food, brick a brack, activities and games for the kids and fun for the whole family.

 

Geelong Cats VFL
Saturday 19th April 2014
The VFL Geelong Cats will play the Box Hill Hawks at Simonds Stadium from 6:00 PM on Saturday night in round 3 of the season. This is the first time the Cats have played at the Geelong ground this season and being a night match there should be a decent crowd who will be in for a great night under the lights.

 

Easter Eggstravaganza
Friday 18th April 2014
The Queenscliff Bowls Club is hosting a fundraiser for the Good Friday Appeal. The Easter Eggstravaganza will take place at 12 noon and feature fun and games for the whole family. There will be a huge Easter Egg hunt, jumping castles, face painting, live music, silent auctions and plenty of raffles and other fun. Come hungry as there will be a monstrous seafood BBQ and plenty of market stalls. Bring a bit of change for the gold coin entry and help support the RCH.

 

Lorne Kinder Fair

The Lorne Kindergarten is holding their Kinder Fair on magnificent Great Ocean Road township’s foreshore from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Easter Saturday. The fair will include a huge market with delicious foods, local art and plenty of fun activities for the whole family.

 

Justice Crew – Hypetour
Saturday 19th April 2014
One of Australia’s hottest hip hop groups Justice Crew are coming to Geelong on the 19th of April. The Sydney based band will be performing at the Geelong Arena in what promises to be an amazing show. The band’s Hypetour has been working its way through Queensland and the Geelong date on the Saturday night is one of only four performances in Victoria. Read more

 

Bugin 2014

Yeay, The beetles are coming to Geelong! The iconic Volkswagen will be celebrated on Geelong’s waterfront and the much of our region over the Easter Weekend with the 2014 Bugin. In its 45th year the event will bring hundreds of VW’s from all parts of Australia to Geelong in a huge show and shine on Steampacket Gardens from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Saturday and a visit to the best of our region including Queenscliff and the beautiful Great Ocean Road. The Mustang & Shelby Nationals
Sunday 20th April 2014
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the world’s most famous muscle car the Ford Mustang, the Mustang and Shelby Nationals are coming to Geelong on Easter Saturday. After a special invite only visit to Ford Asia Pacific’s secret Ford Proving Ground on the outskirts of Geelong on the Saturday over 400 Mustangs are expected to attend a huge open to the public show and shine on Geelong’s waterfront. The show will take place at Deakin University Carpark overlooking Corio Bay. Gates open at 10:00 AM and all cars will be on show until at least 3:00 PM. There will be 50 years of Mustang heritage on show, with trade stalls, parts and accessory vendors and food. Read More

 

Easter Egg Hunt
Sunday 20th April 2014
The Bellarine Estate winery on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula is once again hosting a huge Easter Egg hunt on Easter Sunday. The day is a family fund raiser for the Geelong Hospital. It is hoped this event will raise enough money to purchase a paediatric imaging trolley for the Imaging Department. This great family day will not only have the region’s biggest egg hunt it will have carnival rides, art and craft activities, live bands, food and a guest appearance from Dr. Bear and the Easter Bunny himself. Giant Easter Egg Hunt

Easter Art Show
Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th of April 2014
The Rotary Club of Drysdale are holding their annual Easter Easter Art show bringing together some of the best artists of the Geelong region in a wonderful display that should include more than 500 paintings with many of them on sale.
The show has been running three decades and is renowned as one of the best art shows in the state with some amazing art on display from many well well-known artists and people of all walks of life.
The show runs on Easter Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Easter Sunday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Christian College sports stadium in Collins Street Drysdale.
