2014 Portarlington Mussel Festival

The vibrant seaside village of Portarligton holds their annual Mussel Festival on Saturday the 11th of January 2014.

This year marks the 7th annual holding of the event that has become one of the biggest events on the Bellarine Peninsula regularly attracting crowds in excess of 30,000.

The event celebrates Portarlinton’s magnificent mussels and there are plenty of stalls selling the juiciest and tastiest mussels you have ever tasted. You an even buy mussels fresh from the fisherman’s boat, head down to the historic Portarligton Pier for the freshest mussels harvested straight out of the bay.

Succulent shell fish are not the only food on offer at the Mussel Festival, there will be a wide range of other festive foods and let’s not forget the best of the Bellarine’s produce, beer and wine.

The Mussel Festival transforms the parkland into a huge festival ground with a full day of entertainment, activities for the kids, art and craft exhibitions and even a classic car show and cooking demonstrations for renowned local chefs. Bring yourself a rug and enjoy a wonderful picnic overlooking the scenic bay.

The 2014 Portarlington Mussel Festival is a gold coin donation and the event runs from around 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday the 11th of January 2014.  The event takes place in the parklands off Newcombe Street opposite Portarlington’s town centre. Portarlington is located 29 kilometres from central Geelong and is around a half hour drive heading east on the Bellarine Peninsula.   Portarlington is around a 20 minute drive from the Queenscliff ferry terminal for those heading to the festival from the Mornington Peninsula.
