AFL Football – Geelong Cats vs Adelaide Crows

The mighty Cats begin their 2014 season home in Geelong at Simonds Stadium against the Adelaide Crows in the first of a few tough battles they will encounter in the opening weeks of the season. This game is under the new stadium lights so a huge crowd is expected. – Go Cats

 

Chillwell Primary School Food Fair
Friday 21st March 2014
Chillwell Primary School down the river end of Pakington Street hosts their annual food fair on Friday evening. The fun starts at 4:00PM and goes through to 9:00PM. As well as some delicious treats, there will be entertainment, fun for the kids, a wine tent for the adults, silent auctions and even rides. British India
Friday 21st of March 2014
Inde rock act British India are coming to Geelong and playing the Wool Exchange in Corio Street. The band is promoting their new album Controller and have been touring Australia as part of the Day on the Green Festivals and were in Geelong earlier this year with Hunters & Collectors. This year British India scored their sixth entry into Triple J’s hottest 100 coming in at no 84 with Summer Forgive Me.  For more gigs in Geelong be sure to see our live music calendar.

 

KIK Festival
Saturday 22nd March 2014
The Kardinia International College on the Ballarat Road, Bell Post Hill is holding a wonderful food and wine festival from 12:00PM to 7:00PM. Six different wineries will be attending and there will be some delicious international foods. Dazling Dan The Magic Man is only one of the great performers who will entertain the crowd. There will be rides including a giant slide and the ever popular Cha Cha and lots of family fun.

 

Bunyip Festival
Saturday 22nd March 2014
Clifton Springs Primary School on the Bellarine Peninsula will host their annual Bunyip Festival on the 22nd of March. This great event kicks off at 10:00 AM and finishes at 3:00 PM at their school grounds on Jetty Road. The festival is a wonderful family event with entertainment all day, rides for the kids, market stalls, auctions, delicious food and fun for all ages.

 

Spudfest
Saturday 22nd of March 2014
Spudfest is a music event that takes place at the Potato Shed in Drysdale on the Bellarine Peninsula. This event is aimed at the youth market and will feature some pretty impressive up and coming bands including, Iron Mind, Outright, Free World, Wonders, Imprisoned and Vicious Cycle just to name a few. The drugs, smoke and alcohol free day kicks off at 4:00 PM and finishes at 9:00 PM For more info check out Crash Course Productions on Facebook.

 

Ski Racing Victoria Grand Prix
Saturday 22nd – Sunday 23rd March 2014
The waters of Corio Bay will be a buzz with the Ski Racing Victoria Grand Prix coming to Geelong. This event will showcase some spectacular high speed skiing, with speeds x of 100 miles per hour. Many of Australia’s best skiers will take part in the event that will take place in the waters between Eastern Beach and Lime Burners Point. For more information visit www.waterskiracing.com

 

FIGMENT
Friday 21st – Saturday 22nd March 2014
FIGMENT is a very creative and free form of art and returns to Geelong for the second year. This event provides a medium for emerging artists while tackling a few important social issues. The event started in New York City back in 2007 and has grown to include several cities around the world including Geelong.  The Great Rail Run
Sunday – 23rd March 2014
Have you ever tried to race a train, well here is your chance, try and outrun a steam train in a 17 KM run from Queenscliff to Drysdale. This fun event commences at 8:00 at Queenscliff’s historic railway station and cuts through the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula taking in the spectacular sights of Swan Bay and the rolling hills before reaching the Drysdale Station.  The leading runners take a little over an hour and five minutes to reach Drysdale.  For those not quiet up to 17 kilometres there is a shorter 10 kilometre run called the Suma Park 10K this run. Here you can catch the train at Queenscliff and jump off at Suma Station, then run with the rest of the pack to Drysdale.  At Drysdale there will be plenty of fun and entertainment and trains heading back to Queenscliff throughout the day.

 

2014 Deans Marsh Festival
Sunday – 23rd March 2014
Deans Marsh is less than an hour south west of the Geelong city centre and on the 23rd of March it holds its annual Deans Marsh Festival. Situated on the Deans Marsh Recreation Reserve this festival brings the best of the rural area to one great day. There will be market stalls, vintage machinery, art & craft, sustainability displays, great local gourmet food and plenty of fun for all ages. Read More.

 

Lara Food and Wine Festival
Sunday 23rd March 2014
The lawns of magnificent Pirra Homestead hosts the Lara Food And Wine Festival in what is a fantastic day of mouth watering food, tasty food and wine, entertainment and fun. Thousands flock to the festival each year to not only try some of the region’s best food but learn from some of our best chefs and cooks. Special guest this year is popular TV ‘Master Chef’ Matt Preston who returns to the festival and is always a hit with the crowd. Bravehearts Run
Sunday 24th March 2014
The Bravehearts Walkathon takes place in Eastern Gardens in East Geelong Sunday. This walkathon is a fund raiser for Bravehearts and a awareness of their wonderful cause in supporting the safety of our children. The day concludes with a heap of fun activities for the kids and the ever popular Braveheart Lion is sure to make a guest appearance.
