2014 Festival of Glass

The Festival of Glass event is one of the Geelong region’s more unique festivals and is back again for 2014. This year it will be held on the weekend of February 15 and 16 at the Christian College in Drysdale on the beautiful Bellarine Peninsula.
FESTIVAL-OF-GLASS

Now in its fourth year the festival showcases glass through art, craft and industry and features a wide range of activities and displays throughout the event.

One of the highlights will be the Glass Expo that will take place on the Sunday. The exo is part market, part art show and part demonstration on the crafts associated with glass, one of the worlds oldest and most used materials.

Over 40 exhibition spaces will be full of glass jewelry, beads, household items, artworks, lamps and supplies for glass crafts people. There will be some truly amazing and beautiful items both for sale and on display and it is a wonderful place to meet some of the artists and vendors and learn about their craft.

The Festival of Glass will also feature plenty of workshops over the weekend including teaching skills on glass fusing, making items from beads and special lampwork lessons. Visit the official Festival of Glass Website for times, bookings and costs at www.festivalofglass.net.au

On the Sunday of the event there will be special film presentations all themed around glass. There are films on glass art, glass and music and even glass in architecture, ranging from glass in buildings to items like glass signs and mirrors.

Also on the Sunday there will be several glass demonstrations including bead art, glass sculpture and casting. There are sure to be very popular activities.
